The tournament has been organized only twice before in 2018 and 2019, with Bengaluru FC emerging as the first champions after defeating East Bengal 4-1 in the final held in Bhubaneswar.
In the following year, FC Goa secured the title by defeating Chennaiyin FC 2-1 in the final.

Teams involved in the Hero Super Cup
The eleven Indian Super League clubs and the I-League champions RoundGlass Punjab will have direct entry into the group stages of the Super Cup.
Additionally, four teams from the nine I-League clubs participating in the competition will join them in the group stage.
However, the two teams that finished at the bottom of the I-League table, namely Kenkre FC and Sudeva Delhi, will not be taking part in the Super Cup.
The upcoming edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place in Kerala; however, the games will not be hosted in Kochi, which is the home of the Kerala Blasters.
Instead, the EMS Stadium in Kozhikode and the Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri will serve as venues for the 21 teams participating in the competition.
